Objectives
The student will study:
- What's normal (have data on range of hours/day at different
ages)
- Indicators of a possible medical cause eg. vomiting, poor
feeding, failure to thrive
- Soothing strategies
- Role of medication (none)
- Community supports eg. MCHN, settling centres, GP, paediatrician
Resources and learning opportunities
The student's report will include reference to (de-identified)
children seen in the following clinical situations:
- Infant Distress clinic at CCCH, 6th floor, SE Building,
Thursday 1.30pm. Contact Dr Harriet Hiscock or co-ordinators

- Visit to community settling centre such as Tweddle
- Spend time with MCH Nurse in the community
- Spend time with MCH Nurse at RCH, Michelle Meehan pager: 6163
