Objectives
At the end of this elective students should be able to describe and discuss:
- Changes in incidence of type 1 diabetes during childhood
and adolescence
- Known genetic and environmental risk factors in diabetes
- Genetic counselling issues - relative risk in first and
second degree relatives according to age of onset
and family history
- Atypical forms of diabetes during childhood and adolescence
