Objectives
By the end of this elective, the student should:
- Know the most common causes of disability in childhood
- Gain specific knowledge about the important medical information
that is necessary to establish a diagnosis and to identify
associated medical and developmental
problems
- Obtain an understanding of the role of allied health professionals
and the contribution that they can make to the assessment
and ongoing management of children with developmental disabilities
Resources and learning opportunities
- A reading list will be provided
- Videotape is available
- Attendance at clinics, multidisciplinary assessments and
ward rounds
- A short literature review
