Objectives

By the end of this elective, students should be able to describe and discuss:

1. The metabolic sequence of events leading to DKA
2. The management of DKA
3. The complications of DKA
4. The strategies to prevent recurrent DKA in known diabetic patients

• Published literature, manuals, textbooks and protocols
• Attend Diabetes meetings 1-2pm Tuesdays
• Attend Ward rounds daily
