Objectives

Upon completion of this study, the student will be able to describe:

1. The criteria for assessment of childhood overweight and obesity
2. The extent of the problem in Australian population
3. Possible causes of obesity
4. Strategies for prevention and treatment
5. Community resources and supports including RCH Child Weight Management clinic

Resources and learning opportunities

• Folder of set reading and resources
• Attend Child Weight Management clinic for approximately 3 hours - students should document clinic attendance
• Use outline provided by supervisor to complete a report on the clinic observed
