Objectives
To gain an understanding of the practical aspects of anaesthesia for
small children, students should be able to:
- Give an account of a small child (3-4 years of age) having
a minor procedure as a day patient
- Explain the benefits and disadvantages of parental presence
at induction of anaesthesia
- Explain what sort of preparation should a 3-4 year old
child undergo for a minor procedure (eg: psychological,
physiological)
