Objectives
The student will study:
- The emphasis on the essential link between behavioural concerns
and development
- Developmental surveillance
- Informal
- Formal eg. Denver, PEDS
- Management of common parental concerns eg. aggression,
non-compliance, anxieties
Resources and learning opportunities
The student's report will include (de-identified) children seen
in the following clinical situations:
- CCCH Behaviour clinic (CCCH, 6th floor, SE building): Wednesday
9.00 pre-school and school age children; contact Dr Daryl
Efron, clinic coordinators Wendy/Renee extension: 5466
- Private consultant clinics: Dr Rick Jarman (3rd floor, Front
Entry building, Royal Children's Hospital)
- Child Development and Rehabilitation: Multidisciplinary development
assessment over 2-4 sessions (speech pathology, psychology,
paediatrics); follow a child/family through the assessment
process
- Audiology department - assessments
- Interactive CD-ROM "Child Growth and Development" from the
Department of Paediatrics
