Objectives
To understand the pharmacological basis and practical use of regional
anaesthesia and analgesia in children, students should be able
to:
- Briefly describe a case involving the use of a regional
anaesthetic technique in a child, outlining the potential
risks and benefits
- Discuss the differences in anatomy of the spine and spinal
cord between adults and children
- Briefly, describe the pharmacology of the commonly used
local anaesthetic agents
