Our Campus PartnersThe Royal Children’s Hospital, the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and the University of Melbourne, together make an interwoven, symbiotic relationship delivering high quality clinical services underpinned by research and education. Collectively the independent entities contribute to a paediatric health sciences precinct or campus which is greater than the sum of the parts. The presence of each benefits the other, ensuring the primary focus of each entity is achieved. The delivery of innovative, high quality paediatric care is unsustainable without the input of research and education. World standard research into paediatric diseases and education of medical students and other health care professionals in paediatric health is not possible without access to a paediatric clinical environment. Hence the interdependence of the three partners. The primary representative of the University of Melbourne on the RCH Campus is the Department of Paediatrics, and the Head of Department leads the RCH Academic Centre in the role of Assistant Dean for the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry & Health Sciences. The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, the fundraising arm of the hospital, engages the community to raise funds and works with the Campus partners to identify fundraising projects or initiatives for research, training, education and medical equipment. The aspiration of the Campus partners is to develop sustainable agreements, systems and structures that enhance and advance the collaborative relationships between the three partners, supporting them in their ambition to rank as one of the best children’s hospital campuses in the world. Vision of The Royal Children’s Hospital Campus “A world-class children’s hospital campus incorporating clinical care, research and teaching.” The Royal Children’s Hospital Campus will fulfil its purpose by being a major contributor to the creation of knowledge for disease prevention and treatment, by educating health professionals and the community, and by applying the knowledge clinically and through appropriate population interventions. This environment will attract and retain the most talented and highly motivated staff to give effect to this vision. Learn more about some of the collaborative activities of the RCH Campus Partners.
