Contact information Program informationMedical students from universities other than the University of Melbourne may apply to complete an elective of up to 4 weeks duration. Elective placements are hosted by the Department of Paediatrics and are in an area of clinical interest to the student. Students must have completed the paediatric component of their medical degree.
International students should contact their nearest Australian Diplomatic Post to confirm details of visa requirements and permissible length of stay. FeesFor students planning to do an elective placement in 2009, an administration fee of AUD $800.00 (non refundable) is payable by bank cheque (made payable to the Department of Paediatrics) or credit card within 60 days of an offer being made. How to applyIt is recommended that you apply a minimum of 12 months in advance of your proposed elective period. Check that you have the correct dates as sometimes they cannot be changed. Successful applicants should be notified within 30 days of their application being received. It may be that disciplines selected have already been allocated to other students, in which case you should indicate if you would be willing to be placed in another available department.
