Contact information Program informationMedical students from universities other than the University of Melbourne may apply to complete an elective of up to 4 weeks duration. Elective placements are hosted by the Department of Paediatrics and are in an area of clinical interest to the student. Students must have completed the paediatric component of their medical degree. Students coming to RCH for greater than 4 weeks are usually undertaking research projects and must apply throught the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute as well as relevent RCH clinical department. Students are required to complete the following: Local Students need to provide a copy of their CV and also require a Police Check and Working With Children clearance. International students should contact their nearest Australian Diplomatic Post to confirm details of visa requirements and permissible length of stay. FeesFor students planning to do an elective placement in 2009, an administration fee of AUD $800.00 (non refundable) is payable by bank cheque (made payable to the Department of Paediatrics) or credit card. This fee must be paid prior to the start of your elective. Credit Card Form [PDF 32k] How to applyIt is recommended that you apply a minimum of 12 months in advance of your proposed elective period. Step 3 When all documentation has been received we will send you a letter of acceptance, which will indicate the discipline, from your preferences, that you have been allocated to. This letter will provide information on what you will need to do on the day of your arrival.Contact information
